By providing a classical and Christian education, we seek to nurture the hearts and minds of our students in truth and righteousness so that they may glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
Our students will cultivate a love of learning and carry what they learn at VCA into the rest of their lives. We will give our students the tools to be inquisitive and engage with every aspect of God's created order.
Our students will pursue wisdom and in attaining wisdom they shall be men and women of discipline, self-control, and self-rulership. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and God has given us education to produce free men and women, for as our Lord said, “you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free” (John 8:32).
Through an education that is rigorous and challenging, broad and deep, our students will be equipped for all of life and ready to step into whatever God calls them to. From the reading of good books to the learning of foreign languages; from the school uniforms to the yearly traditions we do, all of it will be used to prepare our students for life beyond our school.
Our school will be a setting where we see Scripture fulfilled before our eyes. Psalm 78 says that we will "tell the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might…so that [our children will] set their hope in God and not forget the works of God but keep His commandments" (v1-7).
As our students grow, we will remind them that God has a calling for each of their lives. We will teach them to be bold enough to determine what that is and see how it contributes to the Creation Mandate of filling the earth with the knowledge and glory of God.
In the coming years, our school will come to be known for rigor in our academics, virtue in our students, love for the truth, professionalism among the staff, and a dedicated community that is built around the school. We envision a thriving and supportive community where students, parents, teachers, and staff see the fruit of their labors as our students grow and live for the Lord.
G.K. Chesterton
How is VCA different from other schools in our region? What will students and parents get from our school compared to another school? What makes us distinct and standout from the rest?
Here are a few things that VCA brings to the table:
Education is an extension of the family, not the government. By taking no government funds we are free to educate and organize how we see fit in order to fulfill the mission God has given us.
Education is not simply transferring data to pass tests. Our approach to education will involve the mind, soul, body, and heart. In the classroom, teachers focus more on growing the person rather than finishing the lesson.
We are not just a Christian school that provides education; rather we are a Christian school that provides a Christian education. We exist to produce disciples, not just good students. Using our doctrine and our culture, our instruction and our practices, we aim for Christian formation.
In July of 2021 an informational meeting was held at Living Water Bible Fellowship in Alamosa, CO to see if there was any interest about starting a Christian school in Alamosa. About 40 people attended that meeting expressing their desire to be directly involved in or support the school in some way. From those 40 people, a core team was established for those who wanted to take the next step and be involved in the planning of the school. This handful of core people committed to working on the initial steps of the school became the founding board of VCA.
From August 2021 to August 2023 the founding board prayed, researched, debated, discussed, and strategized the type of school VCA would become. Mission and vision statements were drafted, education models were researched and considered, documents were written and re-written, and meeting upon meeting was held to take the desire for a Christian school and make it a tangible reality. We are grateful to God for blessing the work of our hands, and pray that He will continue to establish it for His glory!
